Woodbourne Forest and Wildlife Preserve is a 602 acre property of The Nature Conservancy. Located in Dimock, Susquehanna County, PA on PA 29 about 5 miles south of Montrose, it features one of the best and largest remaining stands of ancient forest in the state. Many Eastern Hemlocks have been aged at more than 300 years.  The Sanctuary’s resident Naturalist, Dr. Jerry Skinner, can provide programs and tours to school classes, home school groups, scouts, clubs, Blue & Gold banquets, etc.  He teaches ecology, field biology, and environmental science at Keystone College and has spoken to groups of all ages, from grade schoolers to seniors.

Some field programs may be portable to your location or

         classroom.  Call to check.

         Teacher Training

Workshops on a variety of topics and levels can make you feel

more comfortable about including nature in your curriculum

Scouts:  We can provide badge certification programs in many

         subjects.  Call to check.

Please make arrangements several weeks in advance.  Spring is a busy season, and May dates fill very early.  Given enough advance, a program on nearly any nature or conservation topic can be prepared for your group.

Are you looking for a service project for your eagle scout, group or service organization?  We often need help with outdoor projects on the property and could tailor something for our mutual benefit.

Do you have good, motivated students looking for a field experience, internship, or senior project?  Woodbourne Forest is the site of several planned and ongoing research projects.  We actively seek interested volunteers.
