Pfeiffer on Botox
Wednesday, October 5th, 2011Golden globe-winning actress Michelle Pfeiffer, who is 53 years old, has spoken in favour of light cosmetic surgery procedures this week. While she demurred to mention whether she herself had already indulged, the actress- made famous in 1990s cult hit What Lies Beneath- spoke out against media criticism of Botox and other cosmetic procedures in an interview widely published and republished around the globe.
Pfeiffer, who was interviewed by Elle magazine for a double-page spread, which included a retro glamour shot of her wearing a vintage gown in chic black and white, has a crystal-clear and unlined complexion despite her age. The one-time starlet, who is currently filming supernatural thriller series Dark Shadows, told Elle during the shoot “I’m all for a little something here and there”, referring presumably to lighter cosmetic surgery procedures such as skin peels and rejuvenating facial injections. While the jury is still out as to whether she has used such procedures herself, she did mention Botox injections by name when declaring her stance on plastic surgery: “It doesn’t matter to me if people have plastic surgery or they don’t, or if they do Botox.”
Her attitude neatly dovetails with the emerging trend, with younger and younger women in the public eye speaking out about their use of cosmetic procedures. Many of these procedures help already beautiful more mature women, particularly those in competitive industries, combat the signs of aging and recapture some of the freshness of youth.
